| two slices of bread, one piece of cheese, and the heat of fire. so simple but it changed me. i did not believe it could be so good with so few parts. but it is. the bread becomes crisp and gold. the cheese inside becomes soft and stretches when you pull. i am told the humans give this to their young when they are sad. i understand why now. |

2 slices of bread 1 slice of cheese (i used the orange kind) 1 spoonful of butter a pinch of salt if you like |

1. heat a flat metal pan on your stove. medium heat. not too hot or the bread will burn before the cheese melts. i learned this the hard way. 2. spread butter on one side of each slice of bread. 3. place one slice of bread butter-side down in the pan. 4. place the cheese on top. 5. place the other slice of bread on top, butter-side up. 6. wait. listen for the soft sizzling. when the bottom is gold, flip it with a flat tool. 7. wait again. when the other side is gold, the cheese will be melted inside. 8. eat while hot. it is best with the tomato soup. |
| kl'vaiim's note ~ on my planet we do not melt food on purpose. we let things stay as they are. this dish made me wonder what else i have been missing. |
